1:1 Support

Having 1-to-1 birth support during your VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) is invaluable for both emotional and physical reasons. A dedicated doula or someone outside of the healthcare system can provide continuous encouragement, advocacy, and guidance, helping you stay focused and confident in your ability to birth vaginal. They can help you navigate challenges, suggest effective comfort measures, and work with your medical team to ensure your birth plan and preferences are respected.

Benefits to tailored support

Research shows that continuous support during labour can reduce the need for interventions, shorten labour duration, and improve overall birth satisfaction. For VBAC specifically, this tailored support helps you feel empowered and supported in a situation where confidence and clear communication are key to a successful outcome.

Birth Doula

So what do I get when getting doula support?

Each family, pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience is different. This means that each client I support will receive personalised support depending on their needs. But each family receives:

  • Continuity of care: Unlike the health care professionals who work on rotas, you book me for a set amount of time to attend your birth, and once I am there, I am there for the whole time.

  • While I am part of the birthing team, I am non-medical. This means I am not advising you on what I think you should do with your care. I will support you in making decisions and help you see different perspectives, ensuring that each decision you and your birth partner make is fully yours and informed.

  • Meeting beforehand means that you get to know me and trust the person in your birth space.
